 Gnathothlibus erotus Minimize

March 2002. A hawkmoth from Cook Islands feeding on Gardenia taitensis. This was first thought to be Chromis erotus, but was then corrected by PestNet to the new name of Gnathothlibus erotus eras.

Also, noted in this message is that with the increase in Morinda, hawkmoths have become very plentiful.

And a reflection on English names, presented without hyphens, following the fish people, e.g., whitestripe, yellowtail, fourspot, etc. It makes for an economy of words in the common names for creatures.
