May 2007. The scale was found on ornamentals in Canberra, Austalia, and was thought to be Parthenolecanium sp. Confirmation was requested.

It was agreed that it was likely to be that species. It was said that in parts of India, the insect heavily infests the medicinal herb, Acorus calamus. The insect, too, is used to treat ailments.
