January 2013. The identify of an insect on olive plantations in Northern Ethiopia was requested as well as control measures. Over 80 hectares is already infested. The species is recorded in Ethiopia in the 1960s and suspected to be Plerochila australis or Teleonemia scrupulosa.
The infect is a lacebug, family Tingidae. They suck juices from plants and can be damaging when numerous. It is not the Australian Olive Lace Bug (Froggattia olivinia), which is an Australian native that has moved on to Olea.
