Stem rot

August 2005. Stem rot on capsicum from the State of Uttaranchal, India. Said to be a serious problem.

It was suggested that it might be caused by Phytophthora or even Pythium and that improved drainage, by planting in raised beds, and application of fungicides, Ridomil and Alliette around the base of the plants, might be effective. There was also a suggestion of mixing compost into the planting medium.
