Botrytis or Rhizopus, Uvaria


April 2010. A question about the fungus that was growing on the Uvaria sp., a fruit figured shown above. Was the middle fruit showing signs of Botrytis infection? It was thought more likely to be Rhizopus. Botrytis was more a cool climate organism. It looks very much like the way Rhizopus sporulates on young (aborted) jackfruit in the tropics.
