Weevil in Paraserianthes falcataria

April 2008. A request for the identification of a weevil in Paraserianthes falcataria (previously in the Albizia family) and a borer in teak.

At a later date (April 2011), a specialist at CSIRO said the followng:

“It???s a species of Tanymecini (in the subfamily Entiminae), probably the genus Hypomeces, but I can???t be sure from just this photo. These weevils are polyphagous foliage feeders, definitely not wood borers, and their larvae live in the soil feeding on roots (as nearly all entimines do).”
