Desmanthus pernambucanus, Tonga

December 2008. A legume weed from Tonga. The shrub is approx 3-4 m tall with very dense foliage. It looks similar to Mimosa pigra, but the flowers are white and the stems are not prickly.

It appears to be a new record for Tonga, but it is common in many other Pacific countries.
