Opogona sacchari

A caterpillar intercepted in quarantine from Spineless Yucca, Yucca elephantipes, from Costa Rica. It was thought to be one of the “Yucca moths” – superfamily Hesperioidea.

However, PestNet members considered it to be the larvae of Opogona sacchari, not Hesperioidea. China said that it is intercepted in Yucca and Draceana imported from Costa Rica, Taiwan and Indonesia. The caterpillar is a milky colour, with a rufous head. There are four pinacula on each notum.
