July 2014. Banana transplants are not growing well a member from Gujarat, India write. The soil pH is around 7.9, and the majority of the plants are turning yellow. Is it a nutrient deficiency, and if so should an application of sulphur or nitrogen be added.

There was only one response, and that questioned why the fine roots of the plants were missing. It was not surprising that the plants were turning yellow. Adding fertilizer is hardly likely to be of help. Where the plants getting sufficient water after transfer to the field? The soil looks very dry.
