Chlorosis, Casuarina

October 2005. A chlorotic Casuarina plantlet near the airport on Tongatapu, Tonga. Members were asked to comment.

It was thought to be a chimera. It is probably getting its nutrients from the parent plant. Albino seedlings in corn are not uncommon. They, of course, die when the food in the seed has been used. Keep an eye on it to see how long it survives; this will be an indication of how long the root sucker remains attached to the parent plant.
