- Narrow distribution. Malaysia, Oceania. On banana and plantains.
- Spots mostly on older leaves, diamond shape (Fiji, Samoa), round or oval (PNG, Malaysia), light grey with dark borders, and dark spore masses on underside. In Papua New Guinea and Malaysia, spots may merge destroying large parts of the leaves.
- Usually, a minor disease, worse where bananas grown in wet, cool (24°C) areas, under shade or sprayed with oil against other diseases.
- Cultural control: remove shade if disease persists.
- Chemical control: if needed, use mancozeb, triazoles or strobilurins (see notes Fact Sheet no. 2).
