Dragon fruit, Hylocereus sp.

March 2008. Help was requested by Malaysia to identify a disease of Dragonfruit (Hylocereus spp.) diseases. The disease was thought to be caused by fungal or bacteria.

Members asked if any fungi were isolated from the diseased areas that were likely to be the cause, as similar symptoms are seen in Darwin, Australia, and most seem to be a physiological response to adverse conditions such as sunburn. As yet, no fungal or bacterial diseases have been found.

The CABI Global Plant Clinic suggested contacting SOFRI, the Southern Fruit Research Institute in Southern Vietnam, and an offer was made to recieve samples for analysis.
