Fly (unident), Bhutan

April 2012. A strange fly found during a surveillance in a citrus groove in Bhutan. What is it? The wingspan is about 2.5 cm and the length about the same. The abdomen is disproportionately small and the probosis is large and red.

It was identified by entomologists at the Australian Museum as probably Loxonevra sp, Platystomatidae.
