Sancassania sp., shallot, Indonesia

March 2009. A request to identify the mites found on shallot, Jakata, Indonesia. They were thought to be Rhizoglyphus echinoporus?

Later (June 2011), Zhi-Qiang Zhang, Landcare, New Zealand, said “It is a member of the family Acaridae but unlikely to be Rhizoglyphus. My colleague Dr QH Fan and I agree that it is most likely to be a species ofSancassania based on the host and lengths of caudal setae (this is obvious in the mite at the right hand side).
