Foschek & Ridomil

July 2001. Samoa sent a request for information on Foscheck and Ridomil. Ridomil (Ciba-Geigy), is a systemic fungicide (phenylamide metalaxyl) used against many diseases i.e., potato and tomato late blight (Phytophthora infestans), white rust, downy mildew and against against seedling diseases where it provides effective control over many soil-borne water mould pathogens. It is also used as a seed-dressing.

Fosject is phosphorous acid that is generally injected into trees to control oomycetes; however, there are now also spray formulations for the chemical. It is especially useful against Phytophthora species, but not Pythium.
