October 2004. Images of wasps brought by a farmer from Omaopio on Maui. The wasps, which appear to be Polistes like, are about an inch or so long, and apparently make paper nests on tractors. The farmer would like to have a name and to know whether itis a new pest or not.

It was thought to be Polistes exclamans (Vespidae), well established in Hawaii. Look for small paper nests under the eaves of buildings nearby.
