Chrysocoris or Scuteller, bug, Jatropha, Cambodia

September 2011. Bug from Jatropha, Cambodia. Said to be in small numbers during the wet season.

It was said to be a scutellarid bug. The genera are Chrysocoris and Scutellera. Its better to send specimens to a taxonomist for species identification. This bug can cause severe damage to jatropha pods. Another suggestion was Calliphara, but specimens were needed to confirm this.

It was said that Calliphara is a synonym of Scutellera. However, another member was unaware of that, and said that they should be treated separately and, further, it looked more like Scutellera than Calliphara – the body shape is narrower than the broader species of Calliphara.
