August 2011. The insect came to a light in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, and an identification was requested.

It was said to be a false blisher beetle, Ananca kanack. This beeetle is in Nishida’s checklist for French Polynesia so it is quite widespread in the Pacific.

A question was also asked about Pselaphanca lateritia. This beetle was said to be slightly smaller than A. kanack with dark markings on the elytra.
