There are two weevil pests in rice the rice water weevil Lissorhoptrus oryzophilus and the rice root weevil Echinocnemus oryzae. What sort of damage occurred? Rice root weevil is common in northern India and further east.The rice water weevil Lissorhoptrus oryzophilus Kuschel (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) is an invasive insect pest of rice and has been reported further east. Bangladesh does not have previous reporting. Please send specimens to a taxonomist to identify the species.
