Ruellia tuberosa, white patches, Argentina

May 2013. Symptoms of unknown disease in exotic ornamental Ruellia tuberosa in Argentina. A fungus mycelium is seen but there are no spores.

[R. tuberosa is a plant in the Acanthaceae family from Central America. It has tuberous roots, and funnel-shaped purple flowers. It has been used in a number of folk medicines according to Wikipedia.]

There were no responses. [Editor, it is not at all clear what the white patches represent; they look rather like the white rust on crucifers. Additionally, the images that are “mycelium” appear to be trichomes – plant hairs.]
