Importation of hair sheep

December 2001. Ramu Sugar Ltd., Papua New Guinea, is considering importing up to 40 hair sheep from Fiji. These animals have been in quarantine on Makungai Island for a number of years. Advice on this importation was requested.

The Chief Quarantine Officer-Animals/Chief Veterinary Officer, Fiji, should be contacted for advice. PNG-NAQIA will have to conduct an import risk analysis to determine the quarantine risks associated with such an import. Fiji will be able to advise on the requirements for the IRA, including fees and charges associated with it.
