February 2002. The Yellow stem borer, Scirpophaga incertulas, is common in Southeast and East Asia, China, the Indian continent, and Afghanistan. Information was needed on how to prepare an artificial diet for mass rearing by Indonesia.

In response, a member from Belgium, who had worked on the Papuana beetle project in the Pacific, mentioned that Remedios Aguda and Caesar Demayo at IRRI used an artificial diet successfully some 10 years ago.
